Movie Review
Once again banking on age old theme this film 'Bandhu Balaga' is targeted at family audience. The concept is very old and the making deserved to be better. The performances are very good the songs are placed at right time that has lot of meaning in it. The cinematography is not up to the mark and length of the film could have been pruned. Story writer Janardhana Maharshi has rehashed the Kannada film 'Odahuttidavaru' and cleverly got the nod of producers. When you look at the film at the outset a lot of changes could have been brought in to the film.
Subramanya (Shivarajakumar) the soft spoken darling of village people has a fond sister Annapurneshwari (Tejaswini). He wants the attendance of his brothers, sister in laws who are living in three different countries for the marriage of Annapurneshwari. The brothers in turn want a signature of Subramanya so that Rs.600 crore huge properties come to their custody. Subramanya born to the second wife of affluent Srinivasamurthy believes in good relations rather than money. To get the intimacy and courtesy he is forced to apply some breaks for his signature. The Indian made foreign brothers in the village torture Subramanya but the good deeds win. They all transform in better ways but the second wife of Srinivasamurthy – step mother of Subramanya and mother of three changed brothers take a drastic step.
Shivarajakumar hairstyle is not supporting his face. He has very few emotional scenes and in one place he stands without moving delivers dialogue looks shabby. The punching dialogues normally reserved for hero goes to actor Doddanna. Shashikumar, Dharma, Sumesh, Hema Chaudhary are good in their roles. Poonam Kaur in her first Kannada cinema is promising.
Hamsalekha has written two lovely songs and scored it melodiously. Ramesh Babu Cinematography should have been better. Director Naganna has to change his outlook in directing this kind of movie.

Movie Review
"A widow getting a new life" is how Puttanna depicts AMRUTHA GHALIGE (auspicious moment). The hero is a book worm and well mannered who marries his friend knowing that she was in love with another (Santhosh) friend of him. He lives with her and brings up "her" child. But conveys to Santhosh that he did a mistake and there is not point in continuing it any further. The film climaxes when Santhosh convinces the "widow" to marry him. The moment when this happens Puttanna puts it the auspicious moment. The film has scenes from some of very good locations near Kerekoppa (the birth place of our KT's own sn783). Never to miss the songs like "hiMdUstaanavu eMdU mareyada", "paarvathi parashivara praNaya prasaMga" are from this movie.

A R Rahman Sings in Kannada For First Time

Lyrics: Raqeeb & A R Rahman
Tracklists :
No. Of Tracks: 6
01. One Love - Ek Mohabbat (Hindi)
02. One Love - Kaadal Onru Allava (Tamil)
03. One Love - Pranayam Onnu Allo (Malyalam)
04. One Love - Prema Okkatega (Telugu)
05. One Love - remavu Illi Onde (Kannada)
06. One Love - Bhalobasha Ek Hoye (Bengali)
About :
Just recently, Taj Mahal was voted as one of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World. To commemorate the beauty of Taj and the eternal love it represents, A.R. Rahman has composed a track 'One Love'. It is a unique experience in itself since the song has been made in 6 different languages - Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali. People behind each of the songs are same though. Rahman has composed as well as co-written the song with Raqeeb while Karthik and Naresh Iyer have joined him behind the mike.
Class of the master is visible from the first note itself as Rahman begins this soft number with an orchestra that matches international standards. While Indian feel is quite apparent in the melody that has been woven for 'Ek Mohabbat', the song is such that it could even woo the West due to it's sheer simplicity coupled with class.
The song revolves around the theme of pure love beating all odds and surpassing the lust for power and wealth. Chorus effect further adds value to this beautiful track that is mesmerizing as well as haunting. Listen it in isolation with no disturbance whatsoever and the experience is of the kind that can only be relished!
Now this is what one calls the power of music and some effective rendition. In spite of 'One Love' appearing in regional languages hereafter, one doesn't feel out of place at all and thoroughly enjoys each of the versions that follows. Whether it is Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada or the Bengali version, the arrangements and style of rendition remain just the same hence making it a beautiful experience. It is almost like putting the song in a repeat mode and cherishing the melody that flows from thereon.
Rahman had recently come with a single 'Pray For Me Brother' that was yet another astonishing piece of music from him. The song had crossed shores and made a mark internationally. One hopes that 'One Love' is also marketed appropriately and much more aggressively so that the album reaches a much bigger segment of audience that it could be doing today.
Now that would be a true tribute to Taj. And even Rahman!

Patre Loves Padma Kannada Movie

Director: Chandrashekhar Srivathsa
Music Director: Arjun
Story: Chandrashekar Srivastav
Patre Loves Padma Movie Review
"Patre Loves Padma" is a film made with new comers and technicians who have proved their mettle as assistants to better known directors. The film was an awaited venture mainly because the songs and promos of the film had raised some expectations.
However the film belies all expectations and is a third degree torture for the audience. "Patre Loves Padma" moves at a tortoise pace except in the climax where Arjun's background music creates a little bit of interest.
The makers of "Patre Loves Padma" had claimed in the posters that the film was most awaited love story of 2008. It is certainly not true, but the film does, however, have one of the weakest scripts of the year.
Chandrashekhar might have thought some good music and sequences shot in good outdoor locales will ensure the success of the film.
Though the film has some catchy tunes composed by music director Arjun and visuals are beautiful, the film weighs down because of a terrible script.
And the way many sequences are repeated makes a mockery of narration.
Chandrashekhar Srivathsa writes a haphazard script, creates most unbelievable sequences in the film which are utterly laughable.
Patre has some memory problems but is haunted by his childhood friend who had died because of a motor accident.
Patre decides to marry some one with the same name as Padma. And the search begins for Padma.
Patre and his gang of four friends follow a school girl who bears the name of Padma and entice her.
And another girl with the same name is quite attracted to him. However Patre rejects the second girl's offer thinking the school girl will accept him.
But to his disappointment the young girl rejects Patre's offer.
He accidentally meets the third girl who is kidnapped by unknown miscreants. The suspense about who these people are is not broken in the film.
New comer Ajith has tried to give his best, but is surely handicapped by the script.
Loknath, Girija Lokesh and Ramesh Bhat have put in convincing performances.
Despite some good music composition and excellent technical work, "Patre Loves Padma" utterly fails to please the audience. The slow narration is bound to test your patience.
