Synopsis
Rudra Pratap [Audhitya Singh] lives in Varanasi with his parents and sister. He is in love with Sardar Amarjeet Singh's daughter Shweta [Sheetal Bhavishi]. During his college days, Rudra had strongly protested against the dirty politics indulged in by students, due to which his father [Shivaji Satam] is transferred from Varanasi to Mumbai. In Mumbai, they meet Commissioner Yashwant Sinha [Om Puri], who is a metaphor of fear for Mumbai mafia and international terrorists like Dadua [Ashish Vidyarthi].The story takes a turn when Rudra's classmate Anand introduces Irfan and Arun to Rudra and in some way, these two lads manage to stay under the roof of Rudra for one week.

Movie Review

‘Amrithadhare’ has caught lots of attention since it took off. It is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films in recent times. The cameo role of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the film also adds glamour and hype to the film. Nagathihalli presents the film beautifully, though the story looks old. The lead pair of the film looks wonderful in the film.

Young couple Puru (Dhyan) and Amrutha (Ramya) are madly in love with each other but quarrels on silly matters. The couple is quite different from each other. Puru is religious, miserly and has an aim to build a house, while Amrutha is an atheist, spendthrift and wants to have a baby. Puru then builds a house and names it ‘Amruthadhare’. He presents it to Amrutha on her birthday.

But cruel fate falls upon the couple. Amrutha is diagnosed for brain cancer. Doctors tell Puru that his wife won’t live long. So, he decides to make her happy and therefore takes her to exotic places. He brings her to Mumbai to meet her icon Amitabh Bachchan. Then at last, he takes her to see Taj Mahal. Lots of beautiful and emotional things take place there.

Heroine Ramya’s performance in the film is commendable. She carries herself very well as a rough character and energetic screen presence. Actor Dhyan’s performance is also superb. The on-screen chemistry between the lead pair is lively and wonderful. The presence of Bollywood’s Big ‘B’ Amitabh Bachchan also adds spice to the film. His statement that three years of meaningful life is better than 100 years of meaningless existence touches the hearts of the viewers.

The comedy part of the film is the flip side of the film. Music and songs of the film by Mano Murthy are soothing. He is going to get a hat trick this time, as the music of his two earlier films with Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar were hits. Krishnakumar handles the camera beautifully. He captures the scene from Ladakh to Kanyakumari brilliantly. On the whole, the film is watch able with splendid performance from the lead pair. It is a good family entertainer.

Aa Dinagalu is a story about the underworld which was supposed to have existed in the city of Bengaluru in 1986. In the film Agni Shridhar narrates the preview as story of Kothwal Ramachandra era (1975) coincidentally with declaration of emergency by Indira Gandhi, which led to grooming of M.P.Jayaraj as the uncrowned don of Bengaluru mostly working with Knives, Sickles, Longs for terrorising people. Eventually he seems to have got jailed for contempt of court for 10 years. When he returns in 1985, after the death of Indira Gandhi he finds Kothwal Ramachandra to have taken his spot. In this backdrop how a love story ( for which Bengaluru was famous once- having a lot of suicide spots even now) finds its place has been screened.

The story although is based on backdrop of violence is screened with artistic and cinematic touch for which Kannada Industry was once famous for. There is no place for violence, fight scenes but still the film succeeds in bringing the atmosphere of 1986 Bengaluru in 2007 (release date). Under the supervision of thespian artist Girish Karnad, K.M. Chaitanya ( grandson of Rashtra Kavi G. S. Shivarudrappa[1] ) has directed an off-beat film getting good reviews

Movie Review
Take off in a documentary style very quickly unfold the surprises one after the other and the stark realities. Guruprasad in his debut has lorry load of information to pass it on. He has consumed lot of time. He could have cut short the film a little. Anyhow his attempt is exceedingly good when compared to lot of rubbish falling on screen. The real life incidents laced with hilary gives you a wonderful viewing with rugged style.

The undercurrent message that 'youths of today have to earn their food' is told in a remarkable style.

The pontiff of the Sri Mata for worldly pleasures (there is a Swami in real life like this) vacates the seat. The administrator of the 'Mata' calls for an advertisement (there is a similar incident in the past) to head the Mata. Leaving all the influential applications the administrator picks a bunch of applications with no backings.

Who are they - a barber, intelligent youth, sex hungry person, beggar, drunkard, run away youth and a poor muslilm boy. The administrator gives all the support to these youngsters so that they give up 'Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha and Matsarya' in life. The bunch of youths as expectedly commit series of mistakes and they are sent for further training to another 'Mata' where there is tiff between senior and junior swamiji (there is a similar incident in real life). The sex hungry swamy in this 'Mata' is sentenced for imprisonment (there is a similar episode in real life) and a murder takes place in the 'Mata' (this is a well known episode of Kanchi Swami case). The youth knowing so much of rot happening the sacred place run away. The police catch them and bring back to original place. The administrator of 'Sri Mata' ask them to pay Rs.80000 and get lost. They don't have money. If that is the truth the youths parents are looked after very well by the administrator after they left home. Their parents also neglect as they are useless. No money to pay and no mood to go back they pick up the sacred books. They are given a deadline to finish of the lessons.

The youths give up all their prank ideas and compete each other for the helm position. Venkatesh played by Jaggesh a barber uses his brilliance to acquire the throne. But on the day of acquring the pontiff seat Venkatesh renounce it and say he is happy with his friends. The original swami also turn up at this stage. The youths take up different jobs in the 'Mata' and the money expected - 60000 US dollars reach the 'Mata'.

Comedy touch is what keeps you going from the second reel. The 'free loaders' can take a note from this film.

Jaggesh is at his best in his 100th film. He has showed his strength in dialogue delivery and _expression. In his company the remaining five youth bringing out variety are touching. Sudarshan the veteran actor of Kannada cinema is completely fit for the role.

The whole film is narrated in a flashback style. There is room for songs. Three songs are well composed and they relate to the happenings in the cinema.

This is not only entertaining but also soul stirring.

Puneet Raj Kumar's much awaited film "Arrasu' is a neatly packaged family film which comes off differently than the actor's previous films. The film has nothing fresh to offer in the form of story, but still it looks quite appealing because of a neat presentation and some fantastic performances by the lead artists. Particularly Meera Jasmine outshines in her role and is the mainstay for the film. And then director Mahesh Babu has handled the subject with lot of sensitivity in the second half.

Mahesh Babu shows his strength in the second half of the film where he picks up the tempo of the story. Director deserves kudos for getting the best of the artists in some touching sequences and the directorial touch in the climax sequence. If he had erred in the climax sequence, the whole film would have crumbled. The first half of the film has its usual quota of fights and establishment sequences which are well narrated. Even in the first half the plantain sequence is really touching. The film gathers momentum after halfway through the second half. And it is in these sequences that all the three artists Puneet Raj Kumar, Meera Jasmine and Ramya score good points.

Arrasu is the story of Shivaraj Urs, a rich NRI who stays in abroad spending the hard earned money of his estates. Arrasu is a happy go lucky youngster who spends his time in casinos more than any where else. Barring his rich spending ways, he has not experienced any other things of life. Such a person comes to India out of compulsion and instantly falls for Shruthi, daughter of his office manager. But a practical Shruthi says that he has to understand life and directs him to go and earn five thousand rupees out of his own hard work. Arrasu is directed to Aisha, a friend of Shruthi. Arrasu spends a month in the house of Aishu where he comes to know the other side of life. He works hard to earn the money. Aishu humiliates Arrasu in the beginning, but later she starts loving him. She also reveals her love to Shruthi. Then Shruthi who is also in love with Arrasu wants to sacrifice and accommodate the aspirations of her friend Aishu. In a fitting climax every thing is sorted out.

Puneet Raj Kumar brings out the best in him. In fact this is one film where he has tried to give his emotional best in a complex role which has different shades in the first and second half. Meera Jasmine has been able to translate her latent talent into a powerful performance. She looks good in the song sequences and is equally brilliant in touching as well as humorous sequences. Ramya competes well with Meera Jasmine and has been able to match Meera Jasmine's liveliness in a couple of sequences in the second half. Darshan, Audithya and Shreya have done bit roles in the film which are appropriate for the story.

The film is high in technical department with Ramesh Babu scoring in his camera work. Joshua Sridhar is good in background score, but the music composition of songs is not to the expected levels.

Arrasu is an enjoyable entertainer which has extremely good performances from lead artists.

Movie Review
Nannusire is directed by two directors which has not been an unusual thing in the Kannada film industry. An issue based film P.U.C which was released recently was directed by R.S. Brothers.

The story of the film Nannusire has many shades including the one which is described as the most heinous crime of throwing acid on unsuspecting young girls by dejected lovers.

Nannusire starts off as a triangular love story but later acquires several shades. Such subjects need to have an experienced technical wing, particularly in the directors department. The script looks so unrealistic that silly mistakes often get repeated on the screen. But since the film is directed by two directors separately there is no uniformity in the film. And the film suffers from inadequate performances from its new artists. The comedy sequences in the film fail to make any impact and look too silly. One item song is well shot in Goa.

The story revolves around the love affair of Abhishek and Tanmayee in the beginning. And suddenly the film gets a twist in the form of a mysterious caller who happens to be his Abhishek’s former lover Keerthi. Her intention is to expose Abhishekh for all his wrong doings including his methods to ensnare girls with his charm and fraudulent methods. Keerthi had refused his overtures earlier and an irritated Rahul throws acid on her. But later he says that he wanted to only threaten Keerthi with a duplicate acid. The whole family suffers this tragedy. Keerthi wants to take revenge, but later Tanmayee says that Abhishekh has faced punishment for what he had done, but still she would marry his lovable rascal.

The directors have failed to extract work from from Rahul who is the hero of the film. He looks sleepy in most of the sequences and fails to emote for any scene. The two girls are little better in showing their prowess in acting.

The film’s music of Premji Amaran is a heady mix of lifted tunes and sound bites. The editor has done a shoddy job. The camera work is also ordinary. Two directors have really spoiled the broth.

Just an ordinary fare.

Movie Review
After a long fight with director S Mahendar, producer-cum-director Dayal Padmanabh is out with Kannada movie Circus. The director has really stressed hard himself in weaving the story of the movie Circus. Golden star Ganesh's movie runs like a railway compartment and reaches the happy end. The movie is a pure entertainer. It will fulfill the dreams of the director, who is expecting Rs 7 crores.

Dayal's story, dialogues and the direction and Ganesh's performance will really rock the audiences. The movie could have been failed if Ganesh had not given his usual performance. The director has got good grip on the story, which runs like a train facing bridges and tunnels here and there. He has got strong hold on the story, which looks like compartments. And the music of the movie has filled the fuel to the train to run faster. Shekhar Chandru's camera has done a magic in the movie.

Life is like a train and if train misses the track, then it is sure to fall in ditch. Ganesh and his other three friends play a prank, which challenges all the lives of the passengers in the train. How they manage to save all the lives is the whole gist of the movie.

Like the railway station, the movie is also filled with many people. Sometimes Dayal fails to take the advantage of all these characters and he pulls the chain of the train here and there. Ganesh and his three friends, terrorist who are trying to explode the train, the heroine, who does not understand the hero, Sadhu Kokila and Avinash all look like passenger in the raiway station. Dayal has created Ganesh's character like a train engine, which drags all along with it.

Ganesh has got a different look in this movie. He does not have too much of artificial things as it used to be in his movies. Shekhar Chandru's camera, which seems another proof to this, has caught the changing feelings on his face properly. Though Dayal himself has written the dialogues of the movie, Yogaraj Bhat's way is clearly visible here and there.

Actress Archana Gupta, who does not know Kannada, has failed to lure the Kannada Audiences. She is merely a doll, who does not even understand what the other characters around her are speaking. Even the director has failed to use the actress in a proper way.

There is no liveliness in the music of the movie. Songs like 'Akashakke Yeni', 'Baro Geleya', 'Pisugudade' will not touch the hearts of the audiences. A song from Dr. Raj starrer movie Amar Gite, 'Jeeva Huvagide' has been remixed in the movie. Even this song has also failed to impress the audiences. 'Jinke Mari' fame Emile's music runs monotonously through the movie.

Director Dayal would have been more successful, if he had given a touch of real life to the movie. Instead he has followed the success formula, which has turned the movie a pure entertainer. One can watch once and enjoy it.

Movie Review
Veteran film director Shivamani makes a grand comeback with youth oriented film “Jhossh”. The film introduces a number of fresh faces to the Kannada screen. Shivamani had organised an elaborate talent hunt programme to find the right cast for the film.

Shivamani’s earlier films were technically good but failed to click at the box office because of weak scripts. But in “Jhossh”, the director has ensured that the script is good. It has surely helped the film.

What makes “Jhossh” a special film is that all the fresh faces have effectively portrayed their roles. And the film looks real as the narrative ably reflects the aspirations, frustrations, adolescence, dynamism, confusions of the students who have just entered college life.

Shivamani’s narrative doesn’t deviate from the main goal of showing problems of teens. As a screenplay writer he has managed to hit the bull’s eye by packaging real life incidents with some commercial elements.

Santhosh Pathaaje’s cinematography is brilliant and is one of the highlights of the film. And debutant music director Vardhan’s compositions are also top class. Songs like “Mera Bharath Mahaan”, “Than thane” and “Hey maga” are sure to become chartbusters.

The film, however, has a few flaws that could have been avoided. For instance, Robo Ganesh’s ragging antics irritate. The first half could have been trimmed. And Sharan’s comedy in the first half is not up to the mark.

The film revolves around Rakesh who is very popular among his friends but he doesn’t focus on his studies. Rakesh falls in love with his classmate Meena and is so obsessed with her that he spends maximum time wooing her.

But Rakesh has a setback when Meena starts ignoring him to concentrate on her studies after her father counsels her. After being rejected by Meena, Rakesh tries to woo another girl Meera who tells him they can be good friends but she can’t marry him because he is not serious about his future.

Finally, Rakesh’s friends make him realise his mistakes.

Newcomers Rakesh, Veena, Nithya, Alok, Amit, Akshay, Vishnu and Rambo Ganesh have given good performances. Shivamani has been able to extract the best out of these artistes. Veterans like Ninaasam Achyutha, Sudha Belawadi, Thulasi Shivamani, Sreenivasa Prabhu, Karibasavayya, Jaadhav have adequately supported the young cast members.

“Jhossh” is certainly one of the best original films released in recent days. It is certainly a benchmark for youth oriented films in Kannada. The film has all the elements to attract a large audience.
