Haani Hani Kannada Movie Review

The story of ‘Hani Hani’ directed by Sharan is not unusual in the sense that you would have seen hundreds of films with similar backgrounds in the past. But what makes the film really worth a watch is the director’s manner of presenting it. He presents the film without any confusion and adds up pep in the form of some brilliant songs and good visuals. And some twists towards the end of the second half do come as something unexpected and enjoyable.

Sharan’s track record so far has been making films without a powerful script and command in the narration. Obviously Sharan seems to have learnt his lessons in this venture, where he presents the film in a neat fashion. And he has skillfully arranged the comedy sequences perfectly which provides good relief to the audience. Music director Chinna is awesome with his song compositions and they are finely shot as well.

But the film does have its share of negatives. There are many lagging sequences that the director could have easily chopped off. And some of the comedy sequences end abruptly, much to the discomfort of the audience. One is really not sure if they got chopped off at the editing table or by the Censor Board.

‘Hani Hani’ revolves around the love element between Rahul and Ramya, both of whom are college students. Ramya does not have the courage to intimate her family members about her love and would rather elope with Rahul. But Rahul would rather gain the consent of every family member and then tie the knot. Ramya belongs to a large joint family, with more than thirty members, staying together in a huge bungalow. They lead a merry life with the Patriarch leading the pack. Raahul enters the family and wins the heart of others in the family, and makes all efforts to get the approval of the big family for his marriage.

Tarun who has acted for the first time in a full-fledged hero’s role has struggled to get the right emotions in the film. He dances well. Pooja Gandhi looks glamorous and she has improved her performance skills. But it is Rangayana Raghu who steals the show with his comic timing that literally has us in splits. Sharan deserves credit for drawing a high rated performance from the young comedy actor whom he has introduced. All the other character artists are perfect choices as well, and have done a good job.

‘Hani Hani’ banks heavily on its music. Chinna who has worked for the Telugu film director Man Sharma has done wonders in the song compositions and even his background score is quite noteworthy. M.R.Seenu’s camera work rightly captures the visual beauty of Bangkok, Pattaaya and other places.

‘Hani Hani’ is an enjoyable fare despite some dragging sequences. And the music of course, rocks!

Kamannana Makkalu Kannada Movie

Banner: Udayaravi Creations
Cast: Sudeep, Rockline Venkatesh, Doddanna, Deepu, Vaibhavi, Sadhu Kokila, Ramesh Bhat, Adhi Lokesh, Pooja Gandhi
Direction: Gurudutt
Production: Gurudutt
Music: Vidyasagar

Kamannana Makkalu Movie Review
Producer cum director Gurudut estimating the demand of Sudeep, Rockline Venkatesh and Doddanna fans in Karnataka has given a right preparation with very lively moments in 'Kamannana Makkalu'. Strongly inspired from Tamil film 'Majaa' (starring Vikram produced by Rockline Venkatesh) this film is a revenge saga. There are many shoddy situations that could have been deleted so that the film would have looked crisp and clean. The dialogues are loud for all the key artists.

Kamanna (Doddanna) has brought up Ramanna (Sudeep) and Kittanna (Rockline Venkatesh) from childhood. All the three are efficient thieves. One fine day they all decide to give up their profession of stealing and settle down in some other place. They are traveling in a lorry that develops mechanical defect in the midst of a forest on a dark night. To their destiny they find a house in the next morning to live. This is the house of Kanaka (Vaibhavi). Her father is facing a difficult situation in front of the village chieftain. The stay of trio in this house gives some relief and courage to the distressed family. The trio - Kamanna and his two sons barge on chieftain and solves the litigation further enrages the village chieftain. The trio decides to stay in this village thereafter doing cultivation. In a fare Ramanna ties the mangalasutra to Gayathri daughter of village chieftain just because he liked her evokes noise. The village chieftain give up his harshness for the sake of his daughter Gayathri and if the audience think everything is OK and it will lead to marriage hall they are mistaken. The director brings in mistaken identity and a villain at this point of time. Siblings Ramanna and Kamanna turn temporary enemies and the villain a relative of Gayathri wants to marry her at any cost. The stage is set for a battle in which 'Kamannana Makkalu' wins.

Here is a right kind of film Sudeep fans are looking for. The dialogue, looks and action of Sudeep cheer up the fans. Rockline Venkatesh the noted producer who had given up acting after a few films in the past matches the role. Doddanna wins in the dialogue delivery and natural acting. Ramesh Bhat is as usual in the supporting role. Vaibhavi has the mesmerizing looks but she has not been used properly in this film. Deepu as counterpart to Sudeep looks good. Sadhu Kokila comedy is bit irritating.

There are only two songs worth hearing. The splendid outdoor location is a treat to the eyes. The wrong Kannada grammar atop the lorry should have been corrected.

This is a fairly good entertainer.

Janumada Gelathi Kannada Movie

Banner: Golden Lion Films Division
Cast: Srinagara Kitty, Pooja Gandhi, Jayanthi, Avinash, Harish Rai, Suresh Mangalore, Killer Venkatesh, Kurigalu Prathap

Direction: Dinesh Baboo
Production: C.R.Manohar
Music: V.Manohar

Janumadha Gelathi Movie Review

As a director known for good craftsmanship in a number of films in Kannada renowned cameraman too Dinesh Baboo inspired from French poem 'Yellow Handkerchief' this time tests the patience of audience with lethargic style in the first half of the film. The second half is loaded with developments and one reminds of Babylonian civilization 'An Eye for Eye and Tooth for a Tooth'. Here in this film the protagonist for the killing of his mother takes the revenge by killing the killer in the similar fashion showing the pain of killing innocent people to him.

Gowrishanker (Srinagara Kitty) the Range Forest officer on his reporting to duty and staying in his work place is impressed with Manjula. They both fall in love and agree to marry. Gowrishanker has to bring his loving mother for his marriage as she is everything for him. On his way to bring his mother in a bus Gowrishanker finds a gang forcibly entering the bus to kill an opponent who is a commuter in the bus. Unknowingly who it is Gowrishanker saves the youth putting down half down trouble shooters. This earns a good place for Gowrishanker in the gang of underworld kingpin Gangappa. One of the brothers of opponent gang headed by Khan is killed by Gowrishanker in the fierce battle is enough for him to fall trouble at his feet. Gowrishanker is advised by Gangappa not to move out of his den because danger is ahead for him. For Gowrishanker his mother is waiting in his home town and in his work place his lover is eagerly waiting to get married.

In the clash of Khan and Gangappa some more heads roll. Khan ascertaining who Gowrishanker is kills his mother in the village. Now it is killing spree time for Gowrishanker. In the home of Home Minister Gowrishanker kidnap Khan and bring him to the place of Gangappa where he brutally kills him.

Srinagara Kitty is very good in revenge portions. He has to improve in romantic scenes and emotions. Pooja Gandhi has made a mistake by accepting an inconsequential role. Avinash is powerful but not Suresh Mangalore as Khan.

None of the songs are worth remembering. The cinematography by Dinesh Baboo is hopeless.

There is nothing compelling.

Kodagaana Koli Nungiththa Kannada Movie

Cast & Crew
Banner: Kodagana Koli Nungitha
Cast: Jaggesh, Pooja Gandhi, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Sharan, Nagashekar, Sudarshan, Bank Janardhan, Padmavasanthi, Honnavalli Krishna, Ramesh Babu
Director: Victory Vasu
Production: K.R.Ramaiah
Music: Sadhu Kokila

Movie Review
“Kodagaana Koli Nungiththa” are the opening lyrics of Kannada poet saint Shishunala Sharif’s song written in the 19th Century. The song has philosophical overtones that would mean ‘what will happen if a hen eats a monkey?’.
But this film by director Vasu is neither philosophical nor is it an attempt to focus on the vagaries of life. Instead what you see is the struggle of an unmarried middle aged man to find an ideal wife.
“Kodagaana Koli Nungiththa” has its comic moments, but overall the film is a weak presentation with too many illogical sequences thrown in. It is disappointing to see a director like Vasu not making a clean movie that has truly enjoyable humour.
The storyline is heavily inspired by Telugu film “Malleshwari” starring Venkatesh and Bhagyaraj’s Tamil film “Oru Ooril Oru Rajakumari”. These two films were in turn inspired by the Hollywood hit “Roman Holiday”.
But what makes “Kodagaana Koli Nungiththa” such ordinary fare is that it is not a family entertainer and the director has used a clichéd method to narrate the story. To add to it, some of the comic sequences are not in good taste and may not go down well with family audiences.

Jaggesh’s magical performance with his trademark dialogue delivery is marred by the cheap comedy on offer.
The actor plays Balu, who postpones his marriage plans to fulfil various family responsibilities. But when he is finally ready to tie the knot, he finds that young women are not ready to marry him.
Balu then accidentally meets Lakshmi, who is actually a royal heiress pretending to be a poor girl. He falls in love with her and what follows are a series of adventures as Balu tries various ways to convince Lakshmi to marry him.
Jaggesh carries off his role with aplomb and his comedy timing is perfect. This is Pooja Gandhi’s second Kannada film after a dream debut in the block buster “Mungaru Male”. She carries off a swimsuit well and looks stunning.
Music director Sadhu Kokila has just ended up rehashing many Hindi film tunes for the film’s album.
“Kodagaana Koli Nungiththa” could have been a better presentation, but director Vasu has spolit his own efforts by trying to fit in too many situations that don’t fit into the plot.
Sharan and Kokila team up well with Jaggesh to keep the laugh-o-meter running. Pooja Gandhi too sustains your interest. Had the comedy been tasteful it could have been a delightful family film.
