Nanda Kannada Movie

Nanda can be slotted as a weak action film which just ends up as an old wine in a old bottle. The film scripted and directed by Anantha Raju does not have any credence in the form of a story line or any logical narration. Leave alone lead actors like Shivaraj Kumar and Sandhya, the director has simply wasted a battery of talented artists and technicians. The film suffers because of many negative factors including a weak plot.

The quality of Nanda is so bad that it raises doubts about the way Hatrick Hero Shivaraj Kumar is choosing his films. Neither the story has anything to cheer about or the narration of the director. Anantha Raju who had worked as an associate director till recently seems to be incompetent in handling an action subject. And just because a few gangster films of the actor have succeeded in the Box office, Anantha Raju has scripted his film which includes a number of fight sequences.

Without any fresh elements, Nanda fails to generate any interest. The narration is filled with dragging elements, weak dialogues and unimaginative handling. Anantha Raju who had earlier directed a film like Masth Maja Maadi has made a mess of his work in Nanda. MMM is the remake of Hindi Hit Dhamaal and Anantha Raju had faithfully followed the original. But in Nanda, his imagination has gone hay wire. Basing his screenplay on the story written by producer Mahim who has also played an important role in the film, Anantha Raju has shown his incapability to write a credible script.

The fight composer seems to have a field day in the making of the film. You have many number of fights where more than twenty villains are bashed by the hero. Different type of weapons are used for the fights. Blood and gore are part of these fights. In addition to these violent fight sequences, Nanda also has some comedy sequences which are made with a very poor taste. Perhaps this is one reason why the audience in the theatre are seen moving out of their seats very often in the song and fight sequences.

Nanda is the owner of a Canteen in a College. He is always refered to as Senior by the college students who seek his advise on all the things. Kavya is secretly in love with Nanda who helps his friend to marry her sister. Nanda gets into the wrong books of Kavya’s mother and her uncle who is the Police Commissioner. Nanda wants to marry Kavya despite the resistance of the Police Commissioner. He lands up in Jail on a foisted case. Then he is also used as a pawn by two rival Muslim gangs. Finally Nanda wins his battle by becoming a gangster himself.

Such stories have been seen many times in the Kannada screen and Raju has not infused any fresh elements in the story.

Shivaraj Kumar looks good only in the fight sequences and a song picturised in Bangkok. Sandhya who makes a debut through this film has got a weak role which offers her nothing to showcase her talents. Even veteran artists like Avinash, Shobharaj, Rangayana Raghu, Sharath Lohithashwa, Bhavya and Vanitha Vasu have not been properly used in the film.

Veteran music director V.Manohar’s composition is just average. He has always been inconsistent in his work so far.

Nanda does not offer anything new. It is just a below average fare.

BandhuBalga Kannada Movie

Cast: Shivarajakumar, Poonam Kaur, Tejaswini, Shashikumar, Doddanna, Harish Raj, Hema Chaudhary, Honnavalli Krishna Satyajith, Dharma, Mandip Roy

Direction: Naganna
Production: Soorappa Babu, Kamalakar
Music: Hamsalekha

Movie Review
Once again banking on age old theme this film 'Bandhu Balaga' is targeted at family audience. The concept is very old and the making deserved to be better. The performances are very good the songs are placed at right time that has lot of meaning in it. The cinematography is not up to the mark and length of the film could have been pruned. Story writer Janardhana Maharshi has rehashed the Kannada film 'Odahuttidavaru' and cleverly got the nod of producers. When you look at the film at the outset a lot of changes could have been brought in to the film.

Subramanya (Shivarajakumar) the soft spoken darling of village people has a fond sister Annapurneshwari (Tejaswini). He wants the attendance of his brothers, sister in laws who are living in three different countries for the marriage of Annapurneshwari. The brothers in turn want a signature of Subramanya so that Rs.600 crore huge properties come to their custody. Subramanya born to the second wife of affluent Srinivasamurthy believes in good relations rather than money. To get the intimacy and courtesy he is forced to apply some breaks for his signature. The Indian made foreign brothers in the village torture Subramanya but the good deeds win. They all transform in better ways but the second wife of Srinivasamurthy – step mother of Subramanya and mother of three changed brothers take a drastic step.

Shivarajakumar hairstyle is not supporting his face. He has very few emotional scenes and in one place he stands without moving delivers dialogue looks shabby. The punching dialogues normally reserved for hero goes to actor Doddanna. Shashikumar, Dharma, Sumesh, Hema Chaudhary are good in their roles. Poonam Kaur in her first Kannada cinema is promising.

Hamsalekha has written two lovely songs and scored it melodiously. Ramesh Babu Cinematography should have been better. Director Naganna has to change his outlook in directing this kind of movie.

Paramesha Paanwala Kannada Movie

Cast : Shivaraj Kumar, Survin Chawla, Shrinivasmurty, Ashish Vidyarthi, Chitra Shaney, Akul Balaji, Sadhu Kokila, Sharan.

Director : Mahesh Babu

Cinematographer : Venus Murthy

Producer : Aditya Babu

Music Director : Harikrishna

Paramesha Paanwala Kannada Movie Review

Director Mahesh Babu's "Paramesha Paanwala" is much better than any recent films of Shivaraj Kumar. The second half of the narrative has lot of enjoyable moments and it will please cinegoers.

Writer Maharshi's story is not fresh - it is just a rehash of his previous Kannada films "Bindaas" and "Bombaat" - but the comedy sequences featuring Sadhu Kokila and Om Prakash Rao and a fitting climax save the film.

Maharshi has also lifted some sequences from Telugu films and incorporated them in "Paramesha Paanwala". The opening sequence of the film, where the hero's sister is humiliated by a baddie and the subsequent entry of the hero, has been lifted from Telugu film "Lakshmi" starring Victory Venkatesh.

The film has too many flaws. For instance, the first half moves at very slow pace and then there is a lack of continuity. Hero Shivaraj's different look in the songs and the fight scenes are baffling.

But Shivaraj Kumar's lively performance and comical episodes featuring Om Prakash and Sadhu make up for the the flaws. Om Prakash and Sadhu's comic timing, body language and dialogue delivery are a treat to watch.

The comedy sequences are executed deftly and it would be difficult for the audiences to control their laughter whenever these two artistes appear on the scene. A great job indeed!

The story revolves around Paramesha, who owns a paan shop. He loves making paan for good people, but keeps wicked people away from his shop.

Paramesha has a sister and he makes sure that nobody dares to mess with her.

A senior police officer approaches Paramesha proposing his sister's marriage with his son who is a doctor. Parmesha accepts the proposal, but later discovers that the officer had an ulterior motive behind the alliance.

The officer had killed a don's son in an encounter for raping a girl and killing a policeman.

And now the don wants to avenge his son's death by killing the officer's son. It need not be over emphasised that Paramesha comes out as a winner in this game of wits.

Shivaraj Kumar has given a pleasing performance in the film. Surveen Chawla, who plays the female lead in the film, is just seen in song sequences picturised abroad. Sonu is impressive in the sister's role. Sharan, who plays the role of Shivaraj Kumar's sidekick, has too little scope to display his talent.

If you want to have some hearty laughs, watch "Paramesha Paanwala".

Maadesha Kannada Movie

Banner: L.G.Anupam Film City
Cast: Shivarajakumar, Ravi Belegere, Sonu Bhatia, Ravi Kale
Direction: Ravi Srivatsa
Production: B.M.Goverdhana Murthy
Music: Mano Murthy

Maadesha Movie Review

This is a protracted punching and punishing action extravaganza. The Shivarajakumar fans can get two films action scenes in this one film 'Maadesha'. Despite of Censor going very strong on this film and giving revised 'A' certificate there are objectionable scenes and dialogues in this film that point to 'Khaki'. Where is necessity for Shivarajakumar to be a part of this kind of irresponsible film is the question that strikes the mind. 'Khaki' appears to me like puller of body to the grave yard could have been avoided. Shivarajakumar films in the past never made so much of gruesome attacks on the system we are living in.

Director Ravi Srivatsa in the cloud of controversy right from the beginning of his career in 'Deadly Soma' has made this film for a section of audience. He is fond of creating sensation it seems. The permanent fans of Shivarajakumar family audience would not dare to come and watch this film. Violence is so furious. For the young and feeble hearts this is going to faint them in some particular action scenes.

Young Madesha (Shivarajakumar) for abusing his mother kills a pavement petty businessman. He serves 14 years jail term and decides to make it big in Bangalore. A village boy Madesha with companion of elephant always has the strength of elephant. Working in a petrol bunk Madesha take on the biggest underworld don of Bangalore Khan and his gang. From a hammer he kills Khan and gets protection from petrol bunk owner Sircar (Ravi Belegere). The police are fed with money and Madesh fierce attack and killing is overlooked. In the tutelage of Sircar it is Madesha who builds up his empire. On many occasions Madesha takes the decisions on his own overlooking his boss and that irritates him. For all nefarious activities Madesha is used and obviously he becomes the cynosure in the eyes of underworld, police and politicians.

Madesha dynasty overrules his mentor Sircar is a great insult. But Sircar go to Chadagappa the Home Minister to apply breaks on Madesha. A strict cop Ravi Kale arrives on the scene and after a few encounters with Madesha he is finding proof to serve arrest warrant on him. Madesha flew to Australia to settle down slipping away from law. He announces that he is coming back after sometime and that will be Part-II of Madesha goes the statement on the screen.

Shivarajakumar the action hero and emotional best actor in Kannada cinema should have asked the director to cut short the violence. However this is a treat for Shivarajakumar fans. Sonu Bhatia is wasted. Ravi Belegere, Vijayasarathy and Ravi Kale have come out superb. All the three enjoy good dialogues. The side actor all these years Muni has found a good placement in this film. Padmaja Rao is apt for the mother role.

Munjana Manjaagu….Lahari Moha Lahari….are well sung, well captured on screen. Mano Murthy once again shows how great his tunes are. The background score of Sadhu Kokila lifts the film. G.S.V.Seetharam the permanent cameraman in the trailblazer V.Ravichandran camp has been marvelous. Storing 1.25 lakh feet and bringing it to 14000 feet on screen with lovely top angle shots, some fine editing gives a good technical standard to this film.

If you are an action buff this is a must watch film!
